Super Crunchy Mariam Poppins: Homemade Flax seed gel

Bismillaah

"All praise and thanks belongs to Allaah, Lord & Creator of all the worlds. May Allaah bestow His peace & mercy upon the Prophet, his family, his companions, and on all of those who follow them in truth until The Last Day" Aameen
As salaamu alaykunna!!!

I have officially ran out of hair products (I make all my own hair products Mashaa Allaah) and I was using a shea butter/ coconut oil and various oils product. However, I don't have enough time in the day to run around or the funds to get so many products to make my normal hair products. So, I have heard about flax seed gel but haven't gave it a go because I love my shea butter products :).

However, Flax seed gel is economical and doesn't take long to make! And when you are raising 4 kids, pregnant, homeschooling, working for the husband's business, and doing other wifey duties.....you want something that is fast and economical.

Hence Flax seed!

What is flax seeds?

Flaxseeds, also known as linseeds, are taken from a crop that has been grown for thousands of years throughout the world and is still widely consumed today. These small seeds are touted as a “super food” and are available in most grocery stores. According to an article published by the University of Illinois, flaxseeds reduce your risk of life-threatening diseases. They have a nutty flavor that disappears in most sweet and savory foods.

What are the benefits of flax seed gel?

Benefits:
-Leaves hair soft, shiny, and moisturized
-Promotes hair growth
-You can reuse the flax seeds
-Cost effective (more for your money)
-Nourishing for the hair rich in omega 3
-Gives great curl definition
-Gives hold with no crunch/non flaking/not drying to the hair/doesn’t cause breakage/or shedding
-Fast drying
-Great for wash n go’s/sleek styles/twists and twist outs and sets the twists once dry for a lovely twist out
-Mixes well with oils/conditioners/ many products
-All natural..organic.
-Great for all hair types

How to make it:
Strainer or stocking sock
Wood spoon
Bowl or air tight container ( you can use an old product container and place stocking sock over the top part to strain it)
2 cups of water
1/4 or 1/2 cup of flax seed (linseed) depending on how thick you want it
1 tblsp pf aloe vera gel (optional)
3 drops of essential oil (optional)
You can also add other oils (optional)

Pour 2 cups of water and 1/2 cup of flax seed into a pot, on low/medium bring it to a boil stirring flax seed often with preferably a wood spoon. Turn off heat when a white frothy gel like liquid forms (it will have a raw egg white consistency). Continue stirring while it simmers. Place strainer or stocking sock on top of your bowl or container and pour mixture in. Let it cool down, add aloe gel and essential oil.

Look at how thick the gel is Mashaa Allaah

Straining it

So all in all I love it! And I will be using it again Inshaa Allaah.
