Ramadhaan Arts & Crafts Day 11: Phases of the Moon

As salaamu alaikum and welcome!

You are so awesome for stopping by!

Today's crafty adventure was inspired by a lovely book that a sweet sister sent the kiddos from Saudi Arabia (how cool is that Ma shaa Allaah!)

The book is called Welcome Ramadan!

The kids really enjoyed this book and the characters in it. Its nicely written and understandable for my children's age group.

In the book the two children talk about the moon and how it looks once Ramadhaan comes in and how it looks when Ramadhaan is ending. This was a good time to talk about the phases of the moon. Let's just say this craft brought up bigger questions about the moon and the phases that tonight we are going to go check out our local moon In shaa Allaah and then watch a video on the phases In shaa Allaah.

Materials used:

Phases of the moon worksheet
a circular object for tracing
construction paper/poster board
some knowledge about the phases of the moon lol

The children traced a circle using a plate as their template.

Then we used a black marker to trace around the pencil outline.

We cut the phases of the moon printables and glued them on our paper so that we could color them how we saw it.

Then we painted it black and gave it some shine using glitter!

There are more phases on the right hand side....I couldn't get it all in the picture lol!

Now I'm off to look at the moon with the kiddos and learn about the phases some more In shaa Allaah...hey this counts as homeschool credit and art too!!!! win win!
