Brain Dump: 4 Reasons Why You Need One In Your Bullet Journal

If you are a part of the Bullet Journal community then you are well aware of having a brain dump page. But I'm sure that some of you have not heard of a brain dump before. A brain dump is just a away to transfer all the things you have on your mind onto another storage medium like your Journal, iPad, or your computer.

My storage medium that I choose to unleash all that's in my noggin is my Leuchtturm. The Leuchtturm journal is my favorite journal to use for all my Bullet Journaling needs. I'm going to talk more about why I choose the Leuchtturm over other books.
When you have a lot on your mind it is best to have a healthy way of letting it out and writing has been that outlet for me.

Here are some of my reasons why you must add a brain dump layout in your Bujo.
1. It's a good way to mentally purge!

I think doing a brain dump at the end of the day helps me put things in its proper perspective. It also helps me sleep better because I can see some things that I think about aren't necessarily as big of a deal as I make it.

2. It helps with task management.

When I did a brain dump for the first time. I broke everything down into sections and then the next day I did a task management sheet in my journal.

I was able to place things into 4 categories:

  • Urgent & important
  • Important, but not urgent
  • Urgent, but not important
  • Not urgent, and not important

3. After everything is all written out you can reflect and make a plan

When I did the task management sheet it was clear what things needed to get done first and what things could wait. All I had to do was figure out a plan of action and relax on most of the things that I wanted to do but not necessarily needed to do.

4. It helps with relaxation

It feels good to write things out that I consider important and then it feels extra awesome to make a game plan and set objectives based off my brain dumping session. I can go to bed feeling good that I have made a move in getting things organized.

If you haven't done a brain dump then you should try it! Sit down with a cup of tea and start writing everything that is on your mind. There is no method to this. You do not have to make it pretty and colorful (if you want to do that then go for it!).
I also did one for my blog :)

SubhanAllah I've been brain dumping for years but not following through on the organisation part afterwards. I think it would be helpful in all areas of my life, typically I've only done it for everyday tasks but I may expand it into all areas and then plan from there. Jazakillahu khayrun for sharing sis and I love the colour scheme of your blog masha Allah
