Poppin Collage Workshops: Collage Your Story & Inspired Collage Art
Salaams and howdy my name is Ameenah and I’m a children’s book illustrator and art teacher here at Mariam Poppins!
What’s your story? Who are you? What would you like to share ?
As a children’s book illustrator and I get the opportunity to tell stories all the time! Stories about being brave, loving yourself and one’s filled with adventure. I love what I do!
I love using my imagination and being creative. Combine that with collage and boom! It’s gonna be fun!
Collage is something I enjoy doing. I’m inspired by traditional collage techniques and loving adding it to my digital illustrations. In this workshop we are going to put together a scene done in collage and with hand drawn elements.
This is two workshops in 1.
Collage Inspired Art
in this workshop I’m going to teach you how to make:
- a collage art styled bee
- two collage art styled buildings with hand drawn elements
For my friends who aren’t doing this digitally, you’ll need:
- paint (any kind)
- brushes
- paper
- scissors
For my friends doing this digitally you’ll just need a drawing app of your choice.

Collage Your Story
Here’s what we will learn:
- info about illustrating a story, what to keep in mind
- Materials
- Laying down the foundation
- Trimming & cutting
- Putting the scene together
For this class you can do this digitally or traditionally.
if you do this digitally you’ll need:
- any app that allows you paint, color and use various brushes and layers
for my traditional friends you’ll need:
- paper
- paint
- scissors
- glue
- different brushes
- things that add texture and design (optional)
This workshop is Prerecorded and class starts September 15th
Students will have 24-7 access to the workshop and May ask questions during the workshop about the project.
